The first page on chapter seven talks about what should be the punishment for child marriage. Women that was sitting on the group with the nose covered with their saris kept chanting out â€Å"punishment for child marriage†. The women wanted the punishment for child marriage to be one month in jail for the parents and all concerned. Basic needs for the parents if they go to jail for one month are food, clothing, health treatment, education, housing, rightful work, and rightful rest. The first page also talk about what are the fundamental rights of women. And what must police consider before making an arrest. I feel like the police should consider a lot of things before arresting a lady because women are different from men. The lesson that I learned from chapter seven is that a women who gets out of line may have acid throw on her. It will burn and dissolve her flesh. Leaders of women’s association in some neighborhoods have been disabled by acid, simply because peopl e objected to women organizing. Rape, trafficking of women, very early marriage, inhumane punishment and dire poverty are other blights. After reading this about all the women that this happened to I feel sorry for them because I feel like they shouldn’t have acid throwing at her because she decided to get out of line. Twelve Angry Men is a movie about a young boy on trial for murdering his father. If the boy is found guilty, he will be sentenced to death. The jury men are very aware of this fact, most are perfectly fine with sending this boy to die as one man searches for the empathy of his jury peers. One by one the jury begins to sway toward the not guilty plea, as every fact thrown into conversation gets disproved. Now, one lone juror faces not the pressure of his peers but the pressure of his emotional attachment to the case to see that the boy be punished. This finally leads to Juror #3’s inevitable surrender of not guilty. Juror #3 came into this trial with a moral dilemma long before hearing the facts of the case. If these are cold hard facts, then any emotional ties to either side of the argument can be thrown out, regardless of how you feel about something it has been proven that it did indeed happen. Now put the emotional part aside for the moment and let’s look at Juror #3’s foundation for his argument: facts. Every word of the old man’s testimony can be disproved and was in the film, aside from him living in the apartment below. Now it may be possible that the old man did hear the boy say he was going to kill his father and he heard the body hit the floor over the roaring L train, that was running next to the apartments at the time, although unlikely. But, due to the physical limitations of this elderly man the next part is proven to be impossible. Kids need to have a more active lifestyle, the issue is now days kids entertain themselves with technology such as computers, television and the Xbox. Parents need to spend time encouraging their children to be more physically active, by doing this they also need to become more physically active. Simple things such as taking their children for a bike ride, taking them to the park, playing a game of sport with them. They need to put more focus on encouraging their children to be outdoors. Every little bit of physical activity will make a difference to the child’s wellbeing. Schools, The Government, The Community and the media can all make a difference in making sure the obesity epidemic is reversed. Schools can make sure their students get a minimum of 30 minutes daily exercise, they can help educate the children on nutrition and correct dietary habits and can provide healthy ptions in their canteens, ‘Only a quarter of Australian high school students eat the recommended four or more vegetables a day’ (Canberra times article- Battle of the bulge, Peter Jean). Media at the moment shows fast-food advertisements at least 4 times during an add brake. Children who are sitting on a couch watching TV are being brain washed by fast-food commercials, there for only wanting to eat fast-food such as MacDonald’s. The Government can control the media and controls the schools. They can make changes to the schooling curriculum to add more daily exercise. They can put a stop to the excessive fast-food advertisements that fly across our TV screens. As a community we all play a vital role in making sure children are healthy, this involves weekend sports, and community run sporting activities for young children and even adults. But this will change nothing in reversing the obesity epidemic if parents don’t start to take responsibility for their children and start by giving them the correct dietary needs and regular fitness to kick start their healthy life style.
